Institutional Best Practices

Innovative initiatives implemented by Major SD Singh University towards academic excellence, social responsibility, and holistic student development.

Best Practice #01 Outcome-Based Modular Curriculum & Mentorship

Active Initiative
1. Title of the Practice:

Integrated Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Structured Faculty Mentorship Program.

2. Objectives of the Practice:
  • To bridge the gap between traditional theoretical teaching and industry skill requirements.
  • To provide personalized academic, emotional, and career guidance to every enrolled student through faculty mentors.
3. The Context:

In an evolving higher education ecosystem, contemporary universities must ensure that graduates possess practical problem-solving capabilities alongside core disciplinary knowledge.

4. The Practice:

Every faculty member acts as a mentor for a small cohort of 15-20 students, conducting bi-weekly progress review sessions. Curriculums are mapped with clear course outcomes (COs) and program outcomes (POs).

5. Evidence of Success:

Improved placement conversion rates, reduced academic backlogs, and highly positive feedback collected through IQAC student surveys.

Best Practice #02 Eco-Campus & Resource Sustainability

Sustainability
1. Title of the Practice:

Zero-Waste Management and Renewable Energy Utilization across University Grounds.

2. Objectives of the Practice:
  • To minimize carbon footprint across campus infrastructure.
  • To promote student-led environmental consciousness and practical green technology deployment.
3. The Context:

As a responsible higher educational institution, fostering sustainable ecological practices is vital for instilling civic duty among students.

4. The Practice:

Installation of solar power grids on building rooftops, rainwater harvesting pits, and strict plastic-free campus guidelines enforced by student Eco-Clubs.

5. Evidence of Success:

Significant reduction in grid electricity bills and successful recycling of campus organic waste into high-grade compost for university gardens.
